Qurbani (Sacrifice)

They make you smell their animal's excretions, they tie their animals outside to show them off, they make the streets dirty with dung, they make their animals eat your plants and even cause you to suffer due to your allergies and make it difficult for you to go out, when it's eid they make the blood flow your doorsteps but don't send you even a single piece of meat, may ALLAH do not accept their sacrifices! The Umbrella Academy

I just finished watching the "Umbrella Academy" season 3. I had a lot of expectations but I'm sorry to say that it came out to be ridiculous at the end. The last part was the worst.

Though Vanya/Victor had been the most disliked character for me. In the first two seasons she used to be gay and in the 3rd she suddenly became a male character.

Since Vanya/victor had always been the one causing the apocalypse, then what's the point in all the action? Why was killing a person to save millions was so difficult? This series was corrupt on the moral grounds from start to the end.

The worst of the worst was when Allison kills her father Mr. Hargreeves and resets everything herself, She didn't understand the system, Reg did most of the work and by clicking just one button she resets everything and becomes the hero. That's totally pathetic.

I would not recommend it for children and youngsters alike since it lacks sense of values from the start to the end and might corrupt the minds of it's viewers.

Unsustainable Life of a Developer

We the developers are living unsustainable lives...

Our job doesn't start in the morning. Not in Pakistan. It starts at 10 sometimes 11 am. Which is half morning half afternoon. Then it goes through 7 pm. Congratulations, another day has gone and you did nothing.

I'm not saying that we were not productive. But when you leave home at 10 and come back at 7, there's no time left to socialize.

I hardly talked to my neighbor in the last 5 years. So, a few days ago, a person came in my neighborhood, and he said, I live here in the nearest street, and I haven't seen you. Why is that?

I said that I go out in the morning and come late in the evening like 7 pm (lied), So perhaps that's why!

He told me that his life is almost the same, we go to work in the morning, come back in the evening (almost 7 pm) but still, we meet each-other (other neighbors) but we have never seen you. Are you a software developer?

I said "yes, I'm a developer"

"Oh so that's why", developers are like that!

I don't know if I should take it as an insult. But clearly, people have a life and I don't seem to have a life like that.

If I look at my working hours, they don't start at 11 and don't end at 8. Actually my working hours start at 9:30. I start to get ready at 9:30 though I had already done that in the morning for Fajr prayers. I'll do that again. Then, I'll have to leave at 10:20 in order to be on time and reach the office at 11. Because it takes about 40 minutes for me to reach the office. Partially because it's a long journey, and partially because of those idiots that run at 40 km/h but occupy the fastest lane. (I've observed that if the roads are clear, then obeying all the speed limits, I can reach in 20 minutes!)

The day silently starts at 11 and ends at 1 pm. 1 to 2 pm is break. Which is the most useless time of the day. I can't go home, I can't take a nap, I can only take lunch and then come back at 2 pm. Besides the fact that Islam doesn't ask us to be like that. It is a sunnah to take a nap after lunch.

When I come back at 2, and because I haven't taken a nap, I'm already feeling dizzy. I doze off multiple times while thinking about a solution, and sometimes receive a bunch of insults for that too.

That dizzy feeling keeps going until 6 pm. The most productive hours are 6 to 7 pm. Then at 7 I start to feel hungry and exhausted again and that keeps going on until 8.

At 8 pm I start packing up, and at about 8:20 I'm ready to leave. So, on my way back, I have to listen to more stuff like what I have to do tomorrow. At about 8:30 when I'm psychologically and physically exhausted, I start my car and again, it's a 40 minutes of tedious driving, and those same slow idiots that occupy the fastest lane and make the driving extremely exhausting.

I reach home at about 9:30 because I drive back slowly home as I'm not in a hurry.

At 9:30, I have my dinner which can go to 10. And because of covid, you try to clean-up before doing anything else, which takes another 30 to 40 minutes. So it's 10:40 now.

Children had been waiting for me and now they're feeling extremely sleepy (because their day started at 7). So, sometimes, they have slept already, sometimes I talk to them. And if I do so, it's 12 am, and they are already late for sleep.

So, in short, I'm living an unsustainable life. I have no social life. No-one in my block knows me. I don't go for exercise, I don't sleep after lunch, and I'm living an abnormal life.

So, I need to figure out ways to sometimes, get a life. For that I sometimes work from home (which is discriminated), sometimes I sleep in the car after lunch and get back to work late (like 30 minutes late sometimes), which becomes a question-mark on my punctuality.

And because I try to bring out life from my no-life scenario, I miss the morning 1115 mark and a lot of other things. So, the company cannot trust me or entrust me with a higher level of responsibilities (promotion in-short).

So, I guess I should leave the promotions for the younger people who don't have to take care of those things. Who are not married and don't have children and don't need to have social lives and are perfect workers. I'm not a perfect worker, and probably I'll never be.

Thanks for reading...

Giving More than Taking...

So far I had seen people who take more than they give or atleast try to keep the balance. In the companies they work that is. But today I found a person who gave more than they took apparently.

I have been assigned to a project that was previously being worked on by Amna and Akasha. The manager told me that we're behind on this project so we need a boost. So they assigned it to me. Also, one of the developers has left the company. And I, to be honest, didn't really like her very much.

So, at first, there was a mess that I had to figure out, and it took me some time. I needed some background knowledge. But anyway, I fixed the stuck problem atlast. Took me a week though, and I had to read a lot of code.

There is one mysterious thing that these developers were doing. They would take development code as the starting point, would develop on that code, and then after the development is done would update the development code but there's a master code that works on the production.

The developers were updating the development code, but the master code was cherry-picked from the development code. This would take extra time and it was extremely brain-teasing to me. Why on earth do you take such a difficult path!

As the project was lead by Amna who has already left, all the developers had to say was, "we don't know we just do it this way, we guess that's how we should do it!"... aah... no guys that's not how you should do it, just test the development code and if it's good move it to the master repository, it is as simple as that...

But today while I was working on a task, which is like 3 months old when Amna was here. I found out that that task was already done. The problem they were facing was apparently the one I have already fixed and the rest is already working. So I was surprised. They completed the task and I have nothing left to do on this task apparently. It's ready to go. The time it had required is already taken and now we just deliver the task and the client would have to pay.

Though Amna is not here anymore, she had already arranged for upcoming stuff, making money for the company in advance. So, I really appreciate what she had done and I was surprised and happy to see that such people exist. And on the other hand it's me who try to keep the balance :P

And I also found out the reason behind that mysterious way of merging the code. It was to make sure that the things we do are kept hidden until it is perfect time to release them,

I don't know my co-workers would read my blog post or not, but I have no intention to tell them at the moment the reason behind that mysterious code-merge technique...

Done with Rejections

There is a nicer way to reject. By saying good bye. Or even saying nothing is good. But blocking someone on social network is totally a different shit. That's like you're killing someone or committing suicide in a hope that things wont haunt you. Let me assure that would not be the case.

It happened to me many times. I'm expecting an answer, but instead of an answer I get blocked. I never did this to anyone except I'm usually open to criticism. And even when a person is extremely offensive against me, I would listen to him, let him say his shit, I would just not respond may be, but I would not block him.

Many a times it happened that people said offending things to me and I listened without a response. But at a later stage, we met again and they apologized, and we became friends again. But I think as the population has grown, the value of a person has decreased significantly. People now think that if they cut-off with one person, it wont be a big deal...

I'm done with this kind of rejection seriously. But I can't figure out a way to stop this from happening. There is always a block feature on social network. And it gets mis-used.

A few days ago, a colleague of mine unfriended me on a social network. But she didn't block me, so I asked her if everything was ok? And she had some personal reasons which she didn't tell me. But told me that she has some personal reasons. So, I have no grudge against her. One the contrary I actually liked the way she did it.

But on the other hand, there are people who, if you say something that they find offensive, not just unfriend you, but block you. Leaving any way left to reconcile. I just want to tell those people that you are bludy cowards and I hate you!

Fixed my Laptop

Watching person of interest from start after a long time.

Heard yesterday that about 11 children died in an accident which is a very sad news. Though they blame train driver etc. But we all know how irrational these rickshaw drivers can be. The traffic as a whole is absolutely horrible. Irresponsible drivers everywhere.

Today I tried to fix my laptop screen. It flickers a lot. Making the laptop almost unusable. So I opened it up, all the screws. But the lid wont come out so I used a knife to gently separate the lid and it worked.

So it came out that the problem is in the wires. They're quite messed up, they were apparently short circuited by dust etc. I removed it and it's quite better now. But not completely fixed. I think the wires are damaged in the screen area too which I didn't bother opening. Also I didn't anticipate it in the first place.

Do Pashtuns of Pakistan want to join Afghanistan?

I'm sure a Pashtun could answer that question far better than I can, so my response won't be a simple yes or no. But since you'v...
